About the Cameron Parish Chapter...

The Cameron Parish chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution was formed in March of 1979. The name was derived from the church parish that once straddled the Fairfax and Loudoun County line in the northern tip of Virginia. We are proud that this area was home to many patriots who fought for and supported the causes of American independence.

Chapter meetings are held monthly from September to May in the Herndon, Sterling, Chantilly areas. Our members live and work all over the Northern Virginia area. We offer a variety of meeting programs aimed to inform, educate, and entertain as well as meet the goals of the National Society.

In April 2002, Cameron Parish Chapter presented the plaque marking Washington Dulles International Airport recognizing the land once owned by Francis Lightfoot Lee, signer of the Declaration of Independence.

The dedication ceremony took place on November 16, 2012, after the completion of a major construction program. It holds a place of prominence on a historical marker alongside the plaque dedicated in 1962 by Presidents Kennedy and Eisenhower. The marker dedication was coincident with the 50th Anniversary of the airport’s dedication.

Cameron Parish Chapter members participate in a variety of activities on the chapter, committee, and individual level. Our activities represent the diverse backgrounds and interests of our members and prospective members. Our members attend business meetings on the district, state, and national levels, some serving on district and national congressional committees.
